The smartphone has a curved OLED display which was started by Samsung Smartphones and is still seen in S9 S9+ and Note 9. The display makes the smartphone appealing at its first look itself. The OLED panel has excellent color reproduction and brightness and beats Pixel 3 by a thin margin which has one of the best displays we have seen so far. The phone has a 3D face detection feature which is the first Android phone to have it and is like Apple’s Face ID.
The phone also sports in display fingerprint sensor that we have seen in Oppo V11 Pro smartphone recently. The fingerprint sensor takes its time to read, you need to press firmly and at times it gives a failed attempt in taps but 3D face detection is fast and does its job well. The phone looks beautiful with its own feature called Eye comfort similar to Apple’s true tone display technology.
Performance and Processor
Huawei has always been at the forefront in terms of power and performance and lives up to expectations with
KIRIN 980 Chipset. Hisilicon’s Kirin 980 is efficient and powerful chipset powering the Huawei Mate 20 PRO. This chipset is first in Android to be manufactured with the 7nm manufacturing process, and first to use ARM Cortex A76 cores and Mali-G76 GPU.
On the hardware part Huawei packs in 6GM RAM and has a storage 128 GB, These are the days when we look for more RAM and Storage. Huawei has not limited the storage part. It has introduced a technology that will revolutionize the Android smartphones in the upcoming year 2019. Smartphones used to have Macro Sims and now we have Nano Sims. Huawei has introduced Nano SD card. It will be worth watching whether the industry will follow along. On the contrary, It will take time for nano sd cards to become as affordable as micro SD cards. In terms of connectivity, it is said that Mate 20 Pro supports up to 1.788 Gbps on WiFi connections.
The phone has dropped 3.5 mm Jack, what’s more, intriguing is that there are no visible audio speakers. In fact, the audio comes from the space around the USB slot. The sound is a bit damped when it is plugged in. Speaker gives good bass and volume.
In short phone has excellent audio output.
Battery and Charging
Who doesn’t likes more battery juice at the end of the day. Huawei has a bigger battery and capacity of about 4200 mAh on board. The battery and software optimization lives up to expectations. The phone with EMUI 9 and the efficient processor KIRIN 980 easily lasts a day or two. The phone literally lasts for two days which is the need of the hour for android or any smartphone. Two days backup is not available even on iPhone and Pixel 3. Yes if Camera is used for a full day then the phone needs to be charged at the end of every day.
The phone’s charging is also extremely fast with 40W supercharging, Ridiculously fast. Thirty mins charging can give up to 75% from 0% as amazing as it sounds. Full charge time is 90 mins thus it is the fastest charging solutions available yet.
The combination of a larger battery and fast charge makes a win-win situation. The phone also has a wireless charging feature.
The most important question does the phone heat?
No, it doesn’t heat at all, even with the 40 W super charger
The triple camera at the rear just takes photos to next level. There is an ultra-wide lens for wide angle captures, the phone handles 3x telephoto, and 5 x zoom well with depth sensors good for vlogging or day to day snapshots.
With night mode being the center of attraction that we see on One plus’s 6T and Google’s Pixel 3. Pixel 3 seems slightly ahead in the game. Google can pull off at no lights better shots with a software update. The Camera has AI that allows user moving with a black background and user appears in selective colors. The subject has to be a moving human which is a bit turn off.
The Huawei phones are customizable from the beginning. The design is amazing, the hardware is powerful, battery life perfect, there is super quick wireless reverse charging and the features like quick 3D face detection, In display fingerprint scanner and Nano-Memory making the phone worthy for splashing money.
